JustMaths (“we”, “our”, or “us”) is an educational application designed to support mathematics learning for
students, with oversight from parents, guardians, and schools. We take privacy seriously and are committed to
protecting users' data, especially that of children.
This Privacy Policy explains how information is collected, used, and shared when using the JustMaths app.
1. User Roles in JustMaths
Guest Users
- Anyone may use the app as a guest without creating an account.
- Guest users can access learning content and practice sessions.
- No personal information is required.
- Guest progress may be temporary and may be stored locally on the device.
Parent / Guardian / School Accounts
- Parents, guardians, or schools create primary accounts using email/password or Google Sign-In.
- These accounts are responsible for creating and managing student profiles.
- They can view student progress, analytics, and session history.
- They control who else may access a student's data.
Student Accounts
- Students do not create their own accounts.
- Student profiles are created only by a parent, guardian, or school account.
- Each student is given a User Code and PIN, which the student uses to log in.
- Students do not provide personal information during login.
- Student activity is limited to learning and practice within the app.
2. Information We Collect
Information Collected from Parent / Guardian / School Accounts
- Email address
- Authentication details (via secure providers such as Google Sign-In)
- App usage data related to managing student accounts
Information Associated with Student Accounts
- Learning activity (e.g. completed sessions, scores, progress)
- Topic performance and analytics
- Session timestamps
We do not require students to provide personal information such as name, email address, or date of birth.
Guest Users
- No personal information is required.
- Usage and progress may be stored locally on the device.
3. How Information Is Used
We use collected information to:
- Provide educational content and learning experiences
- Track learning progress and performance
- Display analytics to authorized parent/guardian/school accounts
- Improve app functionality and learning outcomes
- Maintain app security and prevent misuse
4. Access to Student Data
- The creator of a student profile controls access to that student's data.
- The creator may grant or revoke access to other registered users (e.g. another parent or teacher).
- Only authorized users can view a student's progress and analytics.
- Student data is never publicly visible.
5. Children's Privacy
- Children do not create accounts themselves.
- All student accounts are created and managed by adults (parents/guardians/schools).
- We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children.
- Student data is used solely for educational purposes.
6. Advertising
- JustMaths may display ads in non-learning areas of the app.
- Ads are not intended to interrupt active learning experiences.
- We do not sell personal data.
- Advertising is intended to comply with applicable platform policies for educational and family-friendly apps.
Note: Advertising technology may collect limited device information (e.g. advertising identifiers)
depending on your ad provider settings. You should configure your ad provider to comply with child-directed /
education app requirements where applicable.
7. Data Sharing
We do not sell personal data.
Data may be shared only:
- With trusted service providers necessary to operate the app (e.g. analytics, authentication)
- When required by law
- With explicit permission from the account holder (e.g. shared access to student progress)
8. Data Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect user data, including secure authentication,
encrypted communication where supported, and access controls for student data.
9. Data Retention
- Student data is retained as long as the associated parent/guardian/school account remains active.
- Users may request deletion of accounts and associated data.
10. User Rights
Parents, guardians, and schools may:
- Access and review student data
- Modify or delete student profiles
- Revoke access granted to other users
- Request account or data deletion
